Man Stabs Colleague to Death Over Cake in Lagos

A man has met his untimely and brutal end in the hands of his own friend during a really trivial argument over a mere cake in Lagos.

One Onyeka Jackson has died following a misunderstanding over touching a cake baked by his friend and colleague, Daniel Okorie, in Iyana Isashi area of Lagos, on May 24.

  According to reports, it was gathered that after the close of work on the above date, Jackson trailed the 26-year-old Daniel to his house at 102, Iyana-Isashi area of Lagos, over the misunderstanding caused by the cake-touching incident.

  He reportedly banged on Daniel’s door until he opened and an argument ensured, which later degenerated into fisticuffs at a nearby bus stop.

According to a reliable source, when the scene of the incident was visited at Iyana Isashi, traces of dried blood were still visible on the ground, leading to the suspect’s apartment.

      A neighbour who seek anonymity spoke on the issue, said: “Sincerely, I do not know what the bone of contention was. But we saw the two of them quarreling and later they started fighting. “Before people could separate them, Daniel had stabbed Jackson in the chest and he was bleeding profusely.”

      According to Daniel: “Jackson and I work at the same place in Iyana-Era. That day we had a misunderstanding in my place of work. Few minutes after I got home, someone was hitting my door. But I was surprised to see Jackson at my door.

“While we were quarreling, I took a kitchen knife to threaten and chase him out of the compound. It was while we were fighting outside the compound that I stabbed him. I did not mean to kill him.” He added

       Contacted, Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus, said that the police arrested a murder suspect, Daniel Okorie, last Thursday morning at 102 Isashi Road, Clinic Bus Stop.

He allegedly stabbed Onyeka Jackson to death while they were fighting. “The exhibit has been recovered, while the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at Badagry General Hospital for Autopsy. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.”
